Sustainable Living in Harmony with Our Environment

At Brahma Ridge Farm and Event Center we are investing in green and sustainable methods in an effort to minimize our footprint and to preserve the purity of this precious land.

Our farm tractor runs on bio-diesel and our farm cart is an all-electric vehicle.

Our super-insulated Earthberm House relies primarily on solar energy for heating. Its seasonal outdoor shower is solar-heated, too.

We grow organic fruits, berries, herbs, flowers, and vegetables. Our greenhouse provides us with year-round vegetables. No chemical fertilizers or pesticides are used on the farm. Rather, we take advantage of our neighbors' horse manure and composted materials for fertilizer. Orchard crops include Blueberries, Raspberries, Peaches, Apples, Plums, Cherries, Pecans, and Nectarines. See the seasonal garden blog for more about our gardens.

We have planted hundreds of Christmas trees and landscape plants and continue to plant more each year. Medicinal herbs such as Echinacea, Ginseng, Goldenseal, Poppy, and Calendula are intentionally cultivated as well.

Building materials are chosen for low toxicity near our gardens. Bio-degradable cleaning products are used in our houses and laundry facilities. Our bath and shower house is stocked with environmentally friendly soaps and shampoos which we request our guests to use during their stay. All bottles, cans, glass, and plastic at the Event Center and rental houses are collected for recycling where guests are asked to utilize the marked containers provided.

Our future projects include solar hot water and photo-voltaic electricity.
